Three Maine coon kittens were a gift to Colette from her grandfather, who had been caring for the orphaned cats until they were old enough to feed themselves.
But the work and responsibilities involved in the care of the kittens left Colette wondering if she was up to the task. The kittens thrived under the care of Colette and her younger brothers. The grown cats returned to the wild. Colette matured with the responsibilities and tasks she had accomplished. She was proud that in her small way, she had helped nature save a precious species, coon cats.
