Whitstable is a charming seaside town on the north coast of Kent, known for its working harbour, historic fisherman’s huts, oyster festival, independent shops and thriving arts and food scenes. Slap bang in the heart of its high street, just a ten-minute stroll from the picturesque harbour, Fishslab Gallery is a characterful nonprofit gallery. Once a fishmonger’s shop, it now serves as a platform for local and visiting artists. RUN BY VOLUNTEERS Run by a passionate committee of volunteers, many of whom are artists themselves, the gallery offers a unique model. Artists apply on a first-come, first-served basis every August to secure a week-long exhibition slot for the year.
