SENTIMENTALITY OR SIMPLE NOSTALGIA?

I am not particularly sentimental about my cars. I will admit to being slightly obsessed with them because classics are my hobby, my job and my only real passion (after family and beer of course) – but not to being overly sentimental. I have never given my cars pet names, for example. The MG is just ‘the Midget’, the Triumph is ‘the Acclaim’, the Morris is… well I'm sure you've figured it out by now – but Prudence, Gerald, Harry the Herald or Billy Beetle? I've never been tempted even in the slightest. That's not to say I don't give them human characteristics every now and then, but in my defence I think there's some justification for this.
