Unsurprisingly, in his goal to reach perfection and retain as much originality as possible, Daniel came up against numerous difficulties during the comprehensive resto of his XR2. Among these was discovering the previous owner had removed the brakes and, in the process, had lost the rear brake shoe adjusters. “Replacements took months to find as they only appeared on the Mk1,” Daniel says. “I tried ordering adjusters for other old Fords that were similar, but none of these would fit.” He even ordered some from America, but sadly they would never arrive. “Eventually, I spotted an entire rear beam for sale complete with drums so I took a chance and thankfully the elusive adjusters were included,” Daniel adds.
