Originally from the south of France, this early Mk1 Cortina is Gallic bred but now Brit honed to perfection with Zetec power and all the period trimmings.

The route to happiness is, apparently, being able to enjoy the simple things in life: a cold beer on a hot summer’s day; the telling thump of Classic Ford landing on your doormat once a month; or a period patinated classic Ford with tasty twin-cam, carbs and banded steels. “I bought this off a 1980s guy with a ponytail!” laughs Pete Fitzpatrick — no stranger to the pages of Classic Ford — when pressed on the story behind his latest pre-Aeroflow Mk1 Cortina.
