HOW TO BUY USED EXHAUST MANIFOLDS When looking at second-hand, mild steel performance manifold, examine the sleeve to see if it’s been hacked off to fit a different system. Also look for cracks around welds (bottom pic), particularly on the collector boxes and the mounting flanges (that should also be nice and flat — use a ruler to check).
