Six Records of a Floating Life is an autobiography by Shen Fu who lived in Changzhou during the Qing dynasty. The four known "records" are "Wedded Bliss", "The Little Pleasures of Life", "Sorrow" and "The Joys of Travel". Two further chapters are missing: "A History of Life at Chungsha" and "The Way of Living".
沈复,字三白,清苏州(今江苏省吴县)人。生於乾隆二十八年 (西元1763年)卒年不详。但据其所著《浮生六记》中,所记事终於嘉庆十二年(西元1807年)秋,由是推之,他的去世必在这年以后。
沈复的性格爽直,落拓不羁,不事科举,不慕宦仕宦,以行商、画客、幕僚、名士终身。他的太太陈芸,字淑珍,跟他同岁,颖慧能诗文,才思隽秀。他们伉俪情笃,在淳朴恬淡的生活中,另有怡然自得的天地。一生事迹,见於所著《浮生六记》,现仅存四记,包含、、、 。典出李白"浮生若梦,为欢几何?"
《浮生六记》原本为手写稿,清末时被人于旧书摊上无意中觅得,方有幸流传后世。只可惜,遗失了两记。
