Letter of the month Happy shopper Your six months of glowing Our Cars reviews of the Renault Clio persuaded me to add it to my shortlist for a second car. After a test drive I bought a TCe 90 in Esprit Alpine trim. It’s a cracking little car, zesty with an eagerness that belies its modest power output. It’s got all the features you could wish for, with heated seats and Apple CarPlay, plus physical controls for ventilation and switching off the bings and bongs. While not strictly necessary, the Alpine spec lifts the looks and it’s had a few admiring glances from people who think it’s a hot version. It’s 20 years since we last owned a Clio, and the cars we’ve owned since have been bigger and bigger.…
