SkyTeam is highlighting its sustainable credentials, signing a Memorandum of Understanding with Eurostar and Italian operators Trenitalia to push European rail connections as an alternative to short-haul flights.

Dispatch SUSTAINABLE TRAVELLER Both partnerships will see customers able to combine rail trips with medium- and long-haul flights in single reservations. For instance, a passenger can fly from New York JFK to Rome Fiumicino, before continuing their journey with Trenitalia's high-speed Frecciarossa. While the Eurostar announcement hinted at SkyTeam benefits, frequent flyers will be able to earn and redeem miles on Frecciarossa services, and CartaFRECCIA members will similarly be able to earn and burn points on eligible SkyTeam flights. At present no date has been given for the expected launch of the Trenitalia partnership – SkyTeam's agreement with Eurostar is slated to start in the first half of 2025.…
