Walcot Hall, Shropshire While the original Walcot Hall dates back to Tudor times, its Georgian facade was designed in 1764 by Sir William Chambers for Lord Clive of India. Today, three two-to-four-bedroom apartments on the second floor welcome guests into the fold. These rooms make up what would have been the old servants’ quarters, but today they offer spacious living and kitchen areas – think cosy and quirky rather than stately. The Berkeley Apartment in the West Wing is also available for hire and comes with entrancing views over the lake and Shropshire Hills beyond. Outside of the main house, a romantic but more rustic self-catering option is Wheelwright’s Shop, previously a wagon-wheel repair hub, or you could stay in The Chapel, nestled amid the English oak and chestnut trees…
