Perhaps you already have some seahorses and you are now interested in taking the next step and trying your hand at breeding them and raising them to an adult stage. Perhaps you have been trying to breed them for some time but they are not feeling the love!

Or secondly, you have just looked in your aquarium and noticed for the first time how swollen the males' pouch has become, which indicates he's carrying fry.

Or worse still, you've just noticed your aquarium has dozens of tiny but perfectly formed baby seahorses swirling around in the water flow that you had not expected! Whatever the reason applies in your case you will find the help and advice you need within these pages to successfully raise your baby seahorse from birth to adult.

Breeding seahorses is not usually a problem, (especially with Dwarf Seashores) as they are often referred to as the 'rabbits of the sea' - if you know anything at all about rabbits, you will understand the point I'm making. However, the difficulty comes with raising all those babies, that's when the hard work really starts - it's almost a full-time job! In this book I will show you exactly how to do that, from birth and setting up a nursery tank to feeding them and right through to weaning them off of their baby food and on to a more convenient frozen food that you are already feeding the adults on. These are tried and tested methods that work really well in a home aquarium set up.

I have also included a chapter relating to breeding Dwarf Seahorses but as their needs are so much easier it is likely the shortest chapter in the book! At the time of writing Dwarf Seahorses were not available in the UK. However, in late 2023 several breeders were trying to import them into the UK and recommence a breeding programme so that might be good news for UK enthusiasts. Much of what is written here is also applicable to dwarf seahorses, with the exception of nursery tanks - dwarf fry don't need them, they stay in the aquarium with adults!

For the purpose of this book, I have to assume you are not a complete beginner and you have been keeping seahorses or Dwarf seahorses for some time, successfully and without any issues in well set up and healthy aquarium environment.
