Every year on Good Hope Day, citizens of Island Nation must record their hand size to determine their rights and privileges. In this absurd society, Puddin' Head students are even trained to attack their rivals, the Sweeties. Fourteen-year-old Blaze Union is determined to confront her school's insanity and envision a brighter future. However, after being expelled for playing guitar and soccer as an "inferior," Blaze channels her frustration into grander ambitions, vowing to ignite a revolution and become the boss of Island Nation Schools.
With a sarcastic teacher and a band of rebellious misfits by her side, Blaze's movement gains unexpected momentum. But as shocking events unfold across the nation's schools, she begins to question whether she's fighting the right battle.
