I have often been accused of not factoring in enough time for photography on a shoot. On this occasion I also forgot to account for eating, sleeping and going to the toilet. A company called Trans Am Worldwide is to blame. It had just built a Chevy Camaro SS-based tribute to the 1977 Trans Am roundly abused by Burt Reynolds in the all time movie classic – Smokey and the Bandit – complete with 717bhp 7.4-litre supercharged V8. Our mission was clear: borrow the car and see if we could do what Bo Bandit had done before – drive from Atlanta, Georgia to Texarkana, Texas (to secure a crate or two of bootleg beer) and back in 28 hours.
