Enjoy a hop around six beautiful spring galaxies in the region of southern Draco

1 NGC 6015 First is 11th-magnitude NGC 6015, a spiral galaxy classified as Sc-r: ‘Sc’ meaning its arms are loosely wound and ‘r’ indicating it has a ring-like structure. A 150mm scope barely shows it, better revealing the foreground mag. +11.4 star near the galaxy’s core. A 250mm scope shows it as a broad 3.0 x 1.3arcminute ellipse, brighter towards the core. With a 300mm scope, you’ll see a 6.0 x 2.0-arcminute ellipse with hints of a ringed structure. At 40 million lightyears away, NGC 6015 is 4.6° northeast of mag. +3.3 Edasich (Iota (ι) Draconis). It also marks the northwest corner of an equilateral triangle formed with Edasich and Theta (θ) Draconis. □ SEEN IT 2 NGC 5985 From Edasich, slew 1.9° east and a fraction north to mag.…
