The team’s spare car is alongside, while Johnny Cecotto’s #20 machine waits by the opposite wall of the garage. The Venezuelan unexpectedly won the intra-team competition in qualifying, lining up 16th on the grid, half a second and three places ahead of the Brazilian rising star. Come race day, though, he was the first to retire when his clutch failed on the second lap.
