Ignore the headlines proclaiming that Peugeot has delayed the debut of the 9X8. It never set it down in black-and-white that it would race at Spa and Le Mans. In fact it had never said when it was going to start racing its new Le Mans Hypercar. That decision was always going to be based on the results of early testing of a car that hit the track on schedule. It is important to remember the timeline that Peugeot laid out when it announced its comeback to the pinnacle of sportscar racing in November 2019. The WEC had just started its one and only season run to the so-called ‘winter-series format’, and the hard deadline for its entry into the series was the start of the 2022-23 campaign at the back…
