New class for Golf GTI Mk2s

HOT HATCH The 750 Motor Club has added a class for Mk2 Volkswagen Golf GTIs to its Hot Hatch Championship for this year and could run a standalone series for the cars in the future. The club was the original home for the Mk2 Golfs before they moved to the BRSCC. But now there’s sufficient interest from competitors for the 750MC to introduce a specific class for the cars in Hot Hatch. “This came about through Mark Lloyd-Jones and his company Saxon Motorsport,” explained 750MC competitions secretary Giles Groombridge. “They’ve regularly participated in the Birkett Relay with teams of Mk2 Golfs and he mentioned he had a lot of cars but didn’t really have anywhere suitable to race them this year.
