Kyle Busch nears Petty’s record (sort of)

NASCAR CUP PHOENIX (USA) 10 MARCH ROUND 4/36 Kyle Busch scored his 199th NASCAR series race victory at Phoenix to move just one off the great Richard Petty’s long-standing record, though all of The King’s 200 wins came in the top tier. The latest triumph came just over a week after Busch’s record-breaking 53rd Truck series success at a Las Vegas meeting where he fell a Cup win short of taking a weekend sweep of Cup, Xfinity and Truck races. In Phoenix he won the Xfinity contest (his 94th win in that series) and scored his 52nd Cup victory in dominant fashion, leading 177 of the race’s 312 laps and claiming two stages out of three.
