Felix Rosenqvist should be very happy with a deeply impressive IndyCar debut, but first he needed a little luck, and both he and team-mate Scott Dixon were fortunate to reach the Firestone Fast Six. Dixon had spun during Q1, didn’t set a fast enough time to graduate to Q2, but Takuma Sato caused a yellow flag, impeded a following runner and therefore lost his best times, allowing Dixon to reach the next stage. Then in Q2, Rosenqvist was seventh fastest but third-best Colton Herta inadvertently held up a rival, had his two best laps scrubbed, and dropped out of the top six.
