The announcement of Mark Blundell’s plans to tackle the British Touring Car Championship may have come out of the blue in the middle of last month, but it had been a very long time in the making. The 61-time grand prix starter had hankered after the tin-top championship for several years, but only in the past few months did it start to become a reality that he could contest the UK’s highest-profile series.
