De Vries bolsters title-favourite status

FORMULA 2 Nyck de Vries lived up to his tag as Formula 2 title favourite by topping two of the three days in the series’ final pre-season test at Barcelona last week. De Vries takes over as ART Grand Prix team leader from Williams Formula 1 new boy George Russell, after finishing fourth with Prema Racing last year. The Dutchman (right, top) set the best time on the Tuesday and the Thursday of testing, blending impressive one-lap and long-run speed. He told Autosport that he didn’t want to read too much into testing times, and that the real test will come at the opening round in Bahrain at the end of March.
