Ducati Qatar GP win in question

MOTOGP Ducati rider Andrea Dovizioso’s victory in the MotoGP season-opening Qatar Grand Prix remains provisional pending the result of an appeal against a ruling that dismissed a protest made by four rival manufacturers. Honda, Suzuki, Aprilia and KTM all filed a protest following last Sunday’s race against a new rear winglet being used by the Ducati bikes of Dovizioso, Danilo Petrucci and Jack Miller. This was rejected by race stewards, but has now been referred to the FIM Court of Appeals for further consideration, with a verdict expected imminently. Ducati insisted that the part in question was designed merely to cool the rear tyre, but the Bologna-based squad’s rivals are convinced that it must have had an aerodynamic benefit for it to have been used in an event where track temperatures did not…
