Raikkonen’s new lease of life at Alfa Romeo

What can Kimi Raikkonen achieve with Alfa Romeo, the team he began his Formula 1 career with as Sauber? The combination is unlikely to challenge Ferrari, Mercedes and Red Bull (probably in that order, at least for now) this season. But the C38 showed promise in testing and, as Raikkonen tells Edd Straw in our cover piece on page 16, the 39-year old feels he can make a valuable contribution. The Finn certainly seems happier than he appeared for much of his time at Ferrari. It’s not particularly bold to point out that Raikkonen did not make the most of his second stint in red.
