Twenty-one-year-old Oscar Piastri brings to McLaren a seemingly irresistible and compelling impetus that should help drive the team forward in its F1 revival

Two teams have already gone to court over securing his services. He’s left the squad that brought him through the junior ranks and drawn critical comment from some of the biggest figures in the paddock regarding his character. And he’s yet to drive a Formula 1 car in competition. No pressure, Oscar Piastri… Unsurprisingly for a driver who left home at 14 to follow his dream half a world away, Piastri doesn’t view it that way.
