On our first encounter (Issue 1,579), we suspected that the smaller of the two diesel engines, the 220 d, might be the model to have. So now we’ve got one back in the UK to see if our initial hunch was right. The GLC 220 d is based on the same four-cylinder diesel engine as the 300 d, but with just 191bhp it’s 51bhp down on its big brother.
