PLANNING FOR SUCCESS When setting up for this image of the Australian flag in a droplet on the end of a gum leaf, Colin Cook said that he lit the gum leaf held by a clamp from the right. The droplet was glycerine. He held a photo of the flag upside down behind the leaf. He added: “There were a couple of reflections from the lights in the droplet so I painted over them.” This is a fun shot that works because of the amazing content and great colour. It would be great to have the droplet and flag much bigger in the frame, but then it would take more work with the original set-up and probably require diffusing the lighting to reduce the brighter spots and reflections.
