How familiar were you with Equus before you took on the role? I heard about the play when Daniel Radcliffe was in it, but I didn’t really know much before I auditioned. I read the script, but whenever I have an audition, if there’s a film version, I’ll always watch it because I’m severely dyslexic. It’s much easier to get a sense of the world that way. But obviously, it’s not your average play so it took a while to get my head around the subject matter and, as I got to know the play more, I started to realise how many different levels it’s got.
