It has become something of an annual rite for media members, fans and other assorted college football populations to scream for the inclusion of more teams in the annual playoff, which features a four-school “tournament” of mostly Usual Suspects. It’s nice to be more inclusive, but if we are being completely honest, the most appropriate step in regard to the CFP would be to reduce the number — to one. After watching Alabama tear through the 2020 campaign and rock Ohio State in the title game, and after seeing the collection of top-shelf talent that pledged fealty to Nick Saban during the recruiting period, it might make sense to let the Tide choose up sides and stage an intra-squad contest.
