After finishing an NFL-worst 3-14 last year, the Bears entered a pivotal off season armed with the most salary cap space of any team in the league and the No 1 pick in the draft. Second-year general manager Ryan Poles used those assets to upgrade the roster on both sides of the ball via trade, free agency and the draft. The Bears dealt the No. 1 selection to the Panthers in exchange for receiver DJ Moore, two first-round picks and two second-round selections. They signed several free agents, most notably linebackers Tremaine Edmunds (Bills) and T.J. Edwards (Eagles), defensive end DeMarcus Walker (Titans), guard Nate Davis (Titans), running back D’Onta Foreman (Panthers) and tight end Robert Tonyan (Packers).
