College football weathered the COVID-19 storm. Now what?

On a gorgeous winter night in Tallahassee, Michael Alford imagines the fall. The president of Seminoles Boosters is sitting in a semi-full, socially distanced baseball stadium, with Florida State football head coach Mike Norvell merely shouting distance away. Two runners race across home plate for the Noles, and a wave of cheers goes up. Alford can’t help but watch this scene and think about what Doak Campbell Stadium, FSU’s football home, might feel like in a few months. “It’s gonna be electric,” he says. “We are planning a full stadium.” The word “planning” is doing a lot of work in that sentence, and Alford admits as much.
