EL NEGRO MANUEL, LA ESTANCIA DE DON ROSENDO Y ANA MATOS

Más de cuarenta años estuvo la Virgen en la estancia de don Rosendo. Su fiel servidor fue Manuel, un esclavo que de niño iba en la carreta con la Virgen. Cuando falleció el dueño, la imagen fue llevada a la hacienda de doña Ana Matos, donde Manuel, liberado por su entrega, siguió cuidándola. Allá por el año 1674, al día siguiente de su mudanza, la imagen desapareció misteriosamente para retornar a la ermita. Sucedió otra vez, hasta que doña Matos, previa consulta a las autoridades eclesiásticas y civiles, decidió un tercer traslado, esta vez con el moreno Manuel. A partir de entonces, la Iglesia autorizó oficialmente el culto público a la “Pura y Limpia Concepción del Río Luján”.…
