A literature student who would rather write in her room than go to a party, Henri Williams goes to college in the same place she grew up: Haling's Cove, a quaint town in New England. Even though she technically lives on campus, she constantly visits her mother and little sister in her childhood home darkened by loss and abuse. But when Henri meets Theo McConnell, an attentive computer science student, her entire world begins to unravel. As he pulls Henri farther out of her self-isolating bubble filled with poetry and art, she is soon reminded that someone like her is not meant to live outside of her mind. Henri's grasp on reality begins to slip, and it's clear that something has to give-whether that's her education, family, Theo, or her sanity.
