Skønhed, duft og romantik i overdådige mængder – bonderoser og silkepæoner er uden sidestykke staudebedets stjerner. Og så lever de tilmed længe og er nemme at passe, hvis bare man følger nogle få regler. Pæoner har gjort et stormende comeback sammen med oldemors romantiske havestil.

1 Bonderosen, Paeonia officinalis, også kaldet Paeonia x festiva, blomstrede ved Middelhavet længe før Kristi fødsel. Silkepæon, Paeonia lactiflora, stammer fra Østasien og er blevet forædlet i Kina i årtusinder. 2 Bonderose bliver cirka 60 cm høj og blomstrer i majjuni. De mest almindelige sorter er alle fyldte – den dybrøde ’Rubra Plena’, den rosa ’Rosea Plena’ og den hvide ’Alba Plena’. 3 Træpæon, Paeonia x suffruticosa, er navnet på en gruppe af forædlede sorter, som er resultatet af hybridisering mellem forskellige arter. Træpæon er i modsætning til de andre en halvbusk. Den er en af verdens ældste prydplanter og har været dyrket i Kina i mindst 2.000 år. Den skal plantes, så podestedet er 10-15 cm under jordoverfladen. Bliver op til 2 m høj og blomstrer i maj. 4…
