Mette höll ögonen på hyllan för romaner F–G och drog upp mobilen. – Nu är de här igen, viskade hon förväntansfullt i telefonen. Vid bibliotekets bokhylla stod en man och kvinna och bläddrade i varsin bok. – Tror du verkligen att de är intresserade av varandra? Då skulle de väl ändå börja prata. Karin i andra änden av telefonlinjen lät inte övertygad. Men faktum var att just de där två hade kommit in på biblioteket fyra veckor i rad, varje torsdag vid 18-tiden. Mannen, som hette Johan enligt lånekortet, kom in ytterligare någon kväll också. Frågade Mette om en viss bok som presenterats på tv eller som han läst om i tidningen. Kvinnan kom bara på torsdagar. De stod ofta vid samma hylla, till synes omedvetna om varandra. Men blickarna…
