WORLD HERITAGE FOR CAPE YORK (QLD) The Qld and Federal governments have said a number of areas on Cape York have been put up for World Heritage listing. These include Alwal NP, Kulla NP (McIlwraith Range), Ma’alpiku NP (Restoration Island), Olkola NP, Oyala Thumotang NP, Wuthathi NP (Shelburne Bay) and Quinkan Country near Laura. What changes the listings will bring – if successful – is yet to be seen. MATUWA KURRARA KURRARA NP & LAKE CARNEGIE NR (WA) The Matuwa Kurrara Kurrara NP was formerly two pastoral leases. The remote Goldfields properties, totaling 8000km², were purchased by the State Government more than 20 years ago and were recently designated a national park.
