THEY say art is the application of skill and imagination, and Pete Newell’s custom Toyota 300 Series Ute exemplifies that perfectly. Pete, owner of Offroad & Outback in Romsey, Victoria, has a long history with Toyotas, and his latest project is nothing short of sensational. Starting with an ex-demo 300 Series LandCruiser, Pete set out to build his ideal tourer – and got a bit carried away in the best way possible. This rig was among the first 300s in Australia to be converted into a ute, and the craftsmanship is top-tier. Pete entrusted ASG 4X4 with the chop, extending the chassis by 410mm. Unlike the more common 600mm stretch, Pete chose a shorter extension to maintain practicality for daily driving. The result is so seamless you’d think it was factory-made.…
