JOSEPH HARRIS > MINTBUSH FIRE TRAIL, NSW On a trip with two mates, 15-year-old Joseph Harris attempted to traverse the difficult Mintbush Fire Trail within the Yalwal Recreation Area in NSW. Here’s how the day went, in his own words: “Myself and two mates set off down the difficult Mintbush Fire Trail in our Nissan Navara. We had battled halfway down the trail when our front suspension collapsed and we were forced to retrace our steps back up 5km of steep and rocky terrain without lockers or a winch. “We spent hours track building and using my home-made recovery tracks (dubbed MaxTrax 2.0), but with our compromised ground clearance and less-than-powerful Nissan engine, it was painfully slow.
