4X4 AUSTRALIA LOOKS BACK AT THE CHANGES IN THE INDUSTRY, THE RISE IN OUTBACK TOURING, THE EVOLUTIONARY SOPHISTICATION OF 4X4S, AND MORE

30 YEARS AGO – JANUARY 1995 While a limited edition ‘Blue Marlin’ Cruiser graced the front cover and a few pages in this issue, the major story was our annual Industry Awards and the vehicles that took out the different categories. Back then we had gold awards for the best vehicle under $46,000 and the best vehicle over $46,000, the gongs going to the Jeep Cherokee Sport and the Land Rover Discovery ES respectively. Silver awards went to the 80 Series LandCruiser as the best family wagon, while the Mitsubishi Triton took out the best utility workhorse.
