“I think the reason we have not been using caustics is that it’s really an artifact of the technology that you’re using to compute it. And when you think about it, caustics are not so difficult to compute; it’s that the algorithms that you’re using to compute them are very difficult compared to the usual ray-tracing or path-tracing algorithm.
