Each year, millions of people visit National Trust properties, and there’s a whole team of experts, curators and volunteers battling to keep our heritage alive.
As BBC2’s behind-the-scenes series returns, we see how buildings, priceless works of art and furniture are looked after, and first we head to 16-sided property A la Ronde in Devon, which was built and decorated by feminist cousins Mary and Jane Parminter.
‘For women to do that in the 18th century was highly unusual but they weren’t afraid to do it,’ says Emma Mee, National Trust project manager.
