At snowboarding’s 1998 Olympic debut in Japan, Canadian Ross Rebagliati, the parallel giant slalom (PGS) racer and first-ever snowboard gold medalist tested positive for marijuana. When he was stripped of his medal, he pulled a Clinton: “I didn’t inhale.” The International Olympic Committee (IOC) realized cannabis wasn’t on the banned list, and Rebagliati was given his medal back. He then used the publicity to set up Rebagliati Gold, a medical marujana business in Canada. Call me crazy, but I took a semester off college to peel stickers in the name of working in “the industry.” Why? Because snowboarding is the single greatest thing that exists on this planet.
