About The Paris Review
The Paris Review is a literary magazine that is issued once per quarter. In it, you will find a variety of interviews with notable authors and essays on poetry and art as well as featured work from artists, authors and more.
The Paris Reviews aim, as written by their Editor in Chief, is: “...to emphasize creative work—fiction and poetry—not to the exclusion of criticism, but with the aim in mind of merely removing criticism from the dominating place it holds in most literary magazines.”
Established in Paris in 1953, The Paris Review has published a variety of emerging authors before their time. This includes Philip Roth, T. Coraghessan Boyle, Mona Simpson, Edward P. Jones, Rick Moody and many more.
Writers At Work
One of the primary features of The Paris Review is its Writers at Work section. This is one of their most notable features and details the works and day to day lives of some of the world’s most prolific authors and writers. These originally began as interviews with popular literary figures and have evolved over time to be more in-depth looks into the work and lives of these figures. While you won’t always find world-famous literary figures in this section, you will find exposes on other accomplished authors and you will always be engaged with the stories you read.
Poetry
In each issue of The Paris Review, you will find poetry from both well known and lesser-known poets from around the globe. Their team of editors and authors select poems that define the forefront of literature and often include a variety of guest poetry editors. You will always find a variety of styles in each issue and poetry enthusiasts will thoroughly enjoy each issue because of it.
Art
More than just literature, The Paris Review is touted as one of the leaders in Art and Photography news. With regular features on new and well-known artists, you can expect full color and detailed copies of notable art and photography. Each piece of art is accompanied by a detailed description of the work, mediums used, thoughts on the vision of the work and occasionally you will find insight from the artist themselves with inspirational points and techniques used.
