Backstory

Learn about the backstory of your favorite superhero who was sent to earth from the dying planet of his birth. Even though he came to earth as an infant, he still has the powers of his people from the planet Kryton. Born as Kal-El, he becomes Clark Kent when he is found and raised by a farming couple. After discovering his supernatural powers, the couple raised him with excellent moral powers as well. All of this inspired Clark Kent to become the hero of the Superman comic.

Powers

Superman is known for his superpowers. He has everything that an iconic superhero needs to succeed. He has strength, speed, flight, invulnerability, x-ray vision, as well as heat vision. As the most powerful being on earth, he is destined to protect all of those who are weaker than him. However, the powers are merely a reminder of how very different he is and how he isn’t from the planet earth. Follow Clark Kent as he pretends to fit into society while really cloaking his superpowers in the Superman comic.

A Hopeful Figure

The hero of the Superman comic is a universal icon both within and without his comic. He represents a myriad of things to different people, but is most often a symbol of hope. While technically an alien, he is just looking to help the planet on which he ended up living. He inspires all of the people of hear of him and will inspire you as well when you start reading the comic!

Amazing Hero with Stories That Teach and Inspire

I read Superman comics since I was a child. And I love reading the latest issue to find out what is happening in his never-ending battle to protect his adoptive planet as well as how he teaches me about his humanity and his powers. He has amazing limitations to all he can do, and he knows that. Knowing he can't save everyone is something that weighs on him, and makes him so compassionate and driven to keep going. He believes that if others knew how their decisions, good or bad, affected their own environments as well as others, it would motivate them to seek out better decisions. He never gives up on his belief that there is good in everyone, no matter how far gone they may feel they are.

Currently some of the best superman comics yet

At the time of writing the new 52 is coming to a close but Superman is still running (flying?) at full speed. Superman has recently lost a good deal of his powers and has nearly had his secret identity shared to the world. This Man of Steel is vulnerable and can't solve his problems with fists alone

Current "DC: Rebirth" version of Superman really special

The current run of Superman is really heartfelt. Superman and Lois have a ten year old boy, so along with the action there's truly heartfelt family dynamic. Peter Tomasi is a great writer, and I love Gleason's art.

Solid Comic With Top Writers And Artists!

Superman is one of DC Comic's leading superheroes so you know top talent will always be working on this comic. That doesn't mean EVERY issue will be good, but that a vast majority will be better than most. I'm not a huge fan of the need for comics today to tie everything together in big events, but I get that it helps drive sales of other books and so forth. I just wish it didn't happen so often. Superman is a good book that I do enjoy monthly though. Worth a read especially if you are a fan.
