I’ve literally just got back from the press screening of Fast & Furious 8 (The Fate of the Furious). I should imagine the majority of you guys would have seen it by now too. If I was a film critic I’d have slated the film: the plot is utterly ridiculous, the stunts defy physics and logic, the acting is questionable, and to top it off, it’s factually woeful. But I’m not a film critic and I’m not ashamed to say I bloody loved it. I genuinely laughed out loud on at least six occasions and I got a feeling of camaraderie when the predictable plot twist took effect – and I wasn’t alone – the cinema applauded and roared with me. New Civic Type R Perhaps the most important and relevant car to FC readers from this year’s show is the new Honda Civic Type R. It doesn’t seem like that long ago that the previous Type R was being launched, so Honda is certainly keeping us on our toes. Expect a slightly more powerful version of the fiery, boosted 2.0-litre VTEC motor that we found in the previous model, with improved suspension and finished off in a completely new package. But, the decorative stainless steel lips meant the wheel refurb would be a little trickier than normal, as these needed to be carefully removed and then put back, or possibly replaced if there was any corrosion underneath. Fortunately this is a specialist service that Platinum Alloys can offer. However, lady luck was on my side this time and there was no sign of hidden corrosion, so my old lips could be reused. Phew! We’ve noticed a gradual decline in cooling ability with our old single-row ally rad.
