Cut and Save the Line is a debut novel that sheds light on what it means to be trans when the coming out is off the table.
By the time college acting student Lis meets Ty at a drag bar, she'd spent a lot of time alone in her dorm room watching transition vlogs and contemplating the space between herself and the screen. But Ty is flesh and blood, not just in a video, and he's offering Lis a way into a world that has only ever existed on her laptop.
Two years later, after Ty's world has melded into Lis's and Lis is now Nat, Nat is having the time of his life, drunkenly making his way through the local drag scene and his new gay world. Meanwhile, Ty is trying his best to enjoy the fragile peace he's created for himself through hormones, surgery, and time, but is constantly at odds with his chaotic roommate, Nat. Ty and Nat's friends become suspicious of Ty's edginess toward Nat as it grows, leading them to wonder if there's something hidden under the surface of Ty's tightly-bundled exterior.
