Lisa Slavens’ heart ached when she realized how many underprivileged kids’ birthdays went by without even a simple celebration. So she vowed to find a way to make sure that every child in need has the birthday she deserves!

But suddenly, all she could think was: What do struggling families do if they can’t afford to celebrate their children’s birthdays? Having been a single mom, it hadn’t been easy to make ends meet when her four kids were growing up. Yet she’d always made sure to get each child a little birthday gift, and a cake with candles to make a wish.
