Nikki checked her watch and sighed. Her blind date had agreed to meet her 40 minutes ago at Ethan’s Café. She debated leaving but decided to order a second cup of coffee. She grinned when it arrived with a smiley face in the frothy milk.
“That’s better,” said the cute waiter. “I was hoping my coffee art would put a smile on your face. You looked a little sad.”
“That’s really sweet of you to try to cheer me up,” she said.
He raised a brow. “Try? You mean it didn’t work?”
“It helped,” she admitted. “I was supposed to meet someone, but I think I’ve been stood up.”
“Maybe he’s been delayed. Or hit his head and has amnesia,” he laughed.
