“Hug” heroes with special signs!
A personalized welcome home sign is like an embrace telling our returning heroes just how much they’ve been missed! A few ideas to make your sign more special:
• Get all hands (and paws!) on deck! Dip loved ones’ hands in patriotic red and blue paint, and press ’em onto your sign to create a meaningful border. “You can write: ‘These hands prayed for you,’ ” suggests Jil Hinds of the Coalition to Salute America’s Heroes. “After my husband’s first deployment, I decorated a banner with our two Chihuahuas’ paw prints—he loved it!”
• Make a heartfelt countdown! “Write down how many months, days, minutes they’ve been away—or the number of calls and letters,” Hinds says. “It captures a sense of time and the joy that the wait…
