Lorsque la légende est plus belle que la réalité, on la chante. En 1969, Long Chris trouve les mots et réécrit l’histoire de son vieil ami Johnny Hallyday. « Un soir de juin en 1943/Je suis né dans la rue… » Quatre ans plus tôt, le scoop a pourtant fait la une de France Dimanche. Dans l’édition du 22 mai 1965, on voit un certain Léon Smet, le père de la nouvelle idole des jeunes, offrir un éléphant en peluche à ce fils qu’il n’avait pas vu grandir en train de faire son service militaire à Offenburg en Allemagne. La légende de Johnny Hallyday à moitié américain s’évapore. Pour la toute première télé du chanteur, le 18 avril 1960, Line Renaud, sa marraine sur les ondes, avait repris la courte…
