Reimagining heritage beauty codes through a spirited, futuristic lens, the spring/ summer ’25 shows were abuzz with colour, creativity and consideration for both the past and present.

Grunge, but refined Such is the influence of grunge that every season, the moody, androgynous subculture inevitably filters through to the runway in varying iterations. For spring/summer ’25 it reverberated through the beauty looks at Gucci and Christian Dior where eyeliner – dark and diffused – was deliberately undone, as if it could have been applied many hours earlier. Elsewhere, backstage at Chanel, what appeared to be broad strokes of midnight eyeliner was, on closer inspection, a row of delicate shrunken sequins artfully conjured by make-up artist Lisa Butler. Also hidden in plain sight? The miniature, tattoo-like eyeliner love hearts etched into the inner corners of model’s eyes at Coach.
